Meet Sarah, one of our fabulous tour guides in New York City!
Museum Hack: What are three fun facts about you most people don’t know?
- I can play the trumpet (and did for a long time in band).
- I have metal in my spine so I’m basically part-cyborg.
- I make a mean strawberry rhubarb pie.
Museum Hack: If you had to be trapped in the Museum overnight, what would you do?
Run around a lot, actually climb into the squid vs whale diorama because it doesn’t have any glass, hang out with the meteorite, try not to be spooked by all the taxidermy, invite friends to play an insane game of hide and seek followed by a dance party under the blue whale.
Museum Hack: If you could work at any other museum, which one would you choose?
The Merchant’s House Museum in the East Village because it’s actually haunted (!!) and they have macabre events like stagings of Victorian funerals. If I wasn’t gonna talk about science I would talk about ghosts. I know that seems contradictory but I don’t care those are my passions.
Museum Hack: If you were to be reincarnated as an animal, which would it be and why?
Red Panda. They just nap, eat vegetables, and climb trees. They’re also very cute but will still fight you.
Museum Hack: If you could have a drink with one person in history for 15 minutes, who would it be with and what are you drinking?
I’d get a gin martini with Carl Sagan because it’s CARL SAGAN and also so I could grill him on his opinions about aliens.
