The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, or NYC Parks, maintains the city’s parks system which includes over 30,000 acres of land.

What does 30,000 acres look like? Well, it’s more than 1,700 parks, playgrounds, and recreation facilities across the five boroughs.

But it’s also:

  • 14 miles (23 km) of beaches
  • over 2000 greenstreets
  • 23 historic houses
  • over 1,200 statues and monuments
  • and more than 2.5 million trees.1

Kelly and Dustin, ready to workshop with NYC Parks staff

NYC Parks wanted to get some new tools for to tell some amazing stories. So we sent Kelly and Dustin to share out our storytelling technique and ways to utilize smartphones in engaging activities for audience members.

The group split in two for intense storytelling and activities workshops that allowed attendees to really zero in on content delivery.

The NYC Parks team loved the workshops, and appreciated the interactivity, tools, and tips that are immediately usable in their practice. Check out some highlights and photos from their workshop:

NYC Parks staff get up and get moving while learning about storytelling and activity design.
Our workshops always include games and activities to provide hands on training.
We love NYC Parks!
