Get to know our Museum Hack team! This week we’re catching up with Ney, our residential Brit and #museumed expert. Read more for the interview.
Which museum do you give tours at?
MANY! But also the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Why did you apply to work with Museum Hack?
Because it has a much needed laid back approach to education for adults. That’s right people. While you think you’re having fun, we’re secretly teaching you things!
Tell us about one of your favorite Museum Hack experiences.
A family who came with a teenager who “hated museums”, what a challenge. At the end of the tour I asked her if she’d enjoyed her time. While she couldn’t say she was a museum convert she said she had totally and unexpectedly enjoyed her tour. Job done. It’s all about planting a seed.
What’s a fun fact that most people don’t know about you?
I couldn’t speak English until I was 7 years old.
If you had to be trapped in the Museum overnight, what would you do?
Well, I would first scream at the top of my lungs and find out what the acoustics are like. Then I’d take a picnic at the Palace of Versailles, I would take a projector with me and watch Night at the Museum by projecting it onto the back wall of the Petrie Court. Then it would be a classic British dinner in the classic British Lansdowne Dining room. Work it all off with Yoga in Astor court and finally it’s off to bed in the blue State Bed (that’s British too by the way) stealing Marie Antoinette’s dog bed for my pup to sleep in next to me.
If you could work at any other museum, which one would you choose?
I’ve already made this dream come true with both the Brooklyn Museum and the New York Historical Society under my current belt #multitasking.
