Michelle Roginsky is a globetrotter and museum tour guide extraordinaire- we could listen to her stories for hours. We did an interview with her in the above video. Find our about her secret desire to jump on all the beds in the museum in the interview below.
Which museum do you give tours at?
The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Why did you apply to work with Museum Hack?
My mom was a tour guide when she lived in Italy (she is now a software engineer) and she always said it was one of the most fun jobs she ever had. So I did a little digging for tour guiding positions in NYC, and came across Museum Hack. I thought ‘Oh yes…this is what I want!’
Tell us about one of your favorite Museum Hack experiences.
The time an 8 year old boy from Connecticut, wearing a 3 piece suit, opted out of the Little Hackers tour, and said he preferred to join my tour. His reason? He said “I overheard we’d be viewing the contemporary galleries and I’m rather interested in learning about the Noguchi.” I was like, “Damn, I hope my 8 year old kid sounds like you.”
What is a fun facts that most people don’t know about you?
I’ve never had a professional haircut.
If you had to be trapped in the Museum overnight, what would you do?
JUMP ON EVERY BED IN THE MUSEUM. And then take a record number of ugly selfies in the American Wing.
If you were to be reincarnated as an animal, which would it be and why?
Very complex question. Although I love wolves and large cats, I’d probably have to be reincarnated as a large bird of prey. Like a hawk. Or an eagle because I just learned that they can see 4 times as well as humans and they have 2 sets of eye-lids.
If you could work at any other museum, which one would you choose?
It would be a toss up between the National British Museum or The Kremlin because you just know there is so much to be hacked in both those places.
