Not only is she a bonafide scientist, but she is an award winning singer-songwriter (her song was about Scrabble. Amazing.) Kelly gives tours at the American Museum of Natural History, watch her video, and read interview below to find out about her secret desire to take a nap in the Willamette meteorite and her Mick Jagger fantasy.

1. Which museum do you give tours at?
I give tours at the American Museum of Natural History.

2. Why did you apply to work with Museum Hack?
I applied to work with Museum Hack because I love reminding grown-ups that science is amazing and accessible and so much fun! Also: I get PAID to make strangers laugh at animal puns.

3. Tell us about one of your favorite Museum Hack experiences.
My favorite Museum Hack experience was when Ethan and I were giving a private tour to a family with two super-fun little boys (4 and 7 years old). The older boy pulled us aside halfway through the tour and asked very skeptically “are you real scientists?” We let him come to his own conclusion. A little later in the tour, he very earnestly informed us of his decision:

7-year-old: “You guys are pretty smart.”
Ethan: “So do you think we’re real scientists?”
Ethan: “So do you think we’re real scientists?”
Ethan: “So do you think we’re real scientists?”
7-year-old: “Yep.”

#highestpraise!

4. What’s are 3 fun facts that most people don’t know about you?
1. When I was 7, my goal in life was to become the first woman to play major league baseball with the fellas. What didn’t occur to me at the time is that you actually have to be good at baseball in order to do that.
2. I won a singer-songwriter contest in Augusta, GA, for a song about Scrabble.
3. I have a fantasy of Mick Jagger strolling into a karaoke bar while I’m doing Rolling Stones karaoke (at which point he falls in love with me, obviously).

5. If you had to be trapped in the Museum overnight, what would you do?
If I HAD to be trapped in the Museum overnight?! First of all, that has almost happened several times. But, to answer the question… I would dust the mysterious giant arms of Deinocheirus Mirificus. They need it so badly!  After that, I’d drink a martini or two on the bench in New York State Environments while pretending it’s the 1950’s. Then, naturally, I’d crawl into the hole in the Willamette meteorite and take a power nap before doing some ghost-hunting.

6. If you were to be reincarnated as an animal, which would it be and why?
At the risk of inciting a massive amount of eye rolls, I’m going to go totally basic on this and say I’d like to be reincarnated as an indoor-outdoor domesticated cat. Playtime, adventure time, nap time, food time, cuddle time… all whenever I want. I recently had a dream that I was a talking kitten, and it was pretty much the best dream ever.

7. If you could work at any other museum, which one would you choose?
The Page Museum at the La Brea tar pits! Tar and bones and L.A.! Oh my!
