Our Audience Development team has helped museums around the world engage and re-engage audiences…

Group photo of National Czech & Slovak Museum and Library staff

At the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, we revitalized their programming with custom activities and games to get visitors engaging with their museum in a brand new way.  Our customized activities focused around the content the museum already had, such as Character Cards which invite guests to interact with and think like they were one of the real-life Czech and Slovak immigrants to Cedar Rapids.  We also developed fun ice breakers for use during events that encouraged guests to interact, while still allowing them to learn about the museum’s collections!  Afterwards, Sara Jacobmeyer, Director of Programs for the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, stated,

“Thank you again for working with us this week!  This was a transformative professional development experience for our staff.  Everyone who attended is feeling reinvigorated and empowered.  They appreciated getting the chance to slow down for a moment to truly appreciate our exhibitions, and loved getting to focus on interpreting those exhibits in exciting ways that can really make an impact.  The audience engagement workshop is fantastic teambuilding for museum staff — we love Museum Hack!”

Dustin and Zak with a staff member of the Royal Tyrrell

At the Royal Tyrrell Museum, we ensured their museum wouldn’t go extinct by developing strategies to bring in new audiences without alienating those who were already passionate about the museum.  Our custom professional development workshop on audience engagement helped Royal Tyrrell staff find their voice and adapt our techniques to best fit their needs.  They tested new inquiry-based narrative techniques, interactive activities, and kinesthetic modes of engagement to help attract new audiences while appealing to their core base.

We’ve also worked with the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area, California Academy of Sciences, Williams College of Art, Freer Sackler Gallery, and other museums to present professional development workshops, VIP events, and more.  And our methods work!  Read What Makes an Engaging Art Museum Experience? to see how our methods compare to traditional museum tours.
