We are happy to announce that Lia Barcellona Tamborra has been promoted to Creative Associate for our Unhighlights Tours at the Met.
In this role she will be looking at our Metropolitan Museum of Art tours for ways to make them more fun and effective. She will help with training and support the evolution of our tours. Lia will also be working on our special projects. Lia is wickedly funny and an out-of-the-box thinker, we are excited to see her take on this role.
One of the special projects Lia will focus on in 2015 will be museum outreach and consulting. She will help design and customize workshops and programs for museums, specializing in how to engage millennials.
“We are so pleased that Lia has accepted this position with Museum Hack. It is a great fit considering her education and theater background! She is supremely funny, and very creative. We’re excited to see where Lia will take our team in 2015.”
-Nick Gray, Founder of Museum Hack
We asked Lia in an email how she felt about her new position, and we can’t help but feel that what she wrote back is just to perfect to change in any way:
El Greco did pink,
Picasso got blue,
I love museums
And so will you.
–Lia Barcellona Tamborra, Head Tour Guide for Museum Hack
Lia got her BFA from New York University. She studied theater with a focus on playwriting, creating original work, and Theater in Education. While she was there she studied abroad in Johannesburg and Prague.
Here are 3 Things you probably didn’t know about Lia:
1. Her favorite drink is an Olde-Fashioned.
2. She is a co-founder for a musical theatre writing company.
3. She loves to play dungeons and dragons (currently plays an elf ranger raised by orcs)
